Red Cloud: Deliverance (2013) Synopsis :
We meet Jake Red Cloud in the short film "Red Cloud" a few years after issues #1 and #2 of the Red Cloud Origins comic book. Jake is looking for a new place and answers an ad in the newspaper for a room.Ms. Jeannine Parker a woman consumed by celebrity lifestyles and dreams of modeling and acting decides to rent a room to Jake. She has a young daughter named Ann Parker, whom she blames for crushing her dreams of stardom and love conquests. Ann is constantly surrounded by her mother's lifestyle of cigarettes, alcohol, soap operas, and poor male role models.
One day one of Ms Parker's boyfriends gets out of line with Ann, Red Cloud steps in, showing him children should be respected. Jake sees Ann needs a sanctuary and a friend, so he decides to open up to her a bit and be a bit more warm. When doing so he re-assures her that she is never alone and takes her on a spirit journey to meet her spirit animal. In doing so Jake finds something that has been missing within himself as does.......

Story: Jake Red Cloud, a Native American gun for hire with a mysterious past, needs a place to lay low. With a flashy bankroll, he persuades attractive Jeanine Parker to rent him a room. Jake quickly learns that Parker is nothing but a chain smoking, promiscuous drunk that neglects and ignores her daughter Ann. Desperate for attention, Ann befriends Red Cloud and soon the two develop a spiritual bond of friendship, which leads Jake to the revelation that something in his life is missing. Can't wait to see the entire film! I like that it has more substancethan other action films today. I like the depth of the character,Redcloud, and the way that he is humble yet confident. His character iscomplex and multi-layered so it's like peeling away an onion as we getto know more about him & his story. He is dangerous but compassionatetowards the suffering & the weak. He's a bad guy with good intentions.His character draws us in because he evokes our empathy to his plightand we see what drove him to the path that he is upon. Often one whomis a victim of injustice can become driven to pursue a path ofrecompense. A good hearted man of peace and kindness can find himselfon such a path of self-destruction. We can relate to that part of hisconflicted soul.
I must also commend a job well done in conveying so much of thischaracter's soul with non-verbal communication. That is the mark of agifted actor, to communicate so much with so little words. The leadactor (Kruz) has a gift for this and I think that Benjamin Bratt & AdamBeach will have to step aside for Alex Kruz. :) Also, let me add that Ienjoyed the song that is played on the classical guitar in the film.Very invocative of melancholic emotion. He has a good chance at acareer in music if he decides to move on to other things, I would haveto say. This actor also does his own stunts according to the credits atthe end of this episode 1, which is always impressive. Let me stop soas not to burden this native actor with overconfidence. LOL.
By far my very favorite film and I look forward to seeing the rest ofthe episodes! HOO-AH!
