If you miss the tagline of this movie, expect to be surprised!

Seeing the first 20 minutes of the movie you might think that you arewatching something between a romantic comedy and a National Lampoon'skind of film. Todd (Tyler Labine) and Cammie (Malin Akerman) are anunmarried couple, trying to get a short break of their hardworkingdaily routine by going to Todd's family cottage for the weekend. Toddis also planning to propose to Cammie in the most romantic place he canthink of, by the lake!

The troubles began when Todd's loafer brother (Dan Petronijevic) andhis weird girlfriend (Lucy Punch) arrive at the cottage without anotice! The two brothers can't get along, they fight and what happensnext is the beginning of a nightmare. The viewer might think for amoment that is seeing a dream sequence or Todd's wishful thinking!Unfortunately everything is true and Todd and Cammie are following apath far more difficult that they can handle, especially Todd.

The movie has a few awkward moments and you aren't sure what to expectnext. Malin Akerman gives a good performance as the determinedwoman-with-a-plan Cammie.

Overall: Recommended.

Cottage Country (2013) Review by lornloxor from Finland

I wanted to watch this film because I'm a big fan of Tucker and Dalevs. Evil and absolutely loved Tyler Labine's performance in it. InCottage Country Labine plays Todd who is sort of similar to thecharacter he was in Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil though he's nowhere near asfunny in this. Malin Akerman's acting was pretty good in this but Ididn't feel the kind of chemistry between them as I did between TylerLabine and Alan Tudyk in Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Todd's parents' arereally good and they bring some good tension to the movie. Lucy Punchis pretty terrible though.

The movie's main problem is that it doesn't quite know what it tries tobe. At the start you think it might be a sort of a romantic comedy, attimes it's a dark comedy and partly it focuses on the crime story. Thelaughs come mostly from the few shocks the movie delivers and not somuch from the writing.

Some of the plot devices were a bit gimmicky, especially the part whereTodd suddenly starts seeing dead people and telling secrets to peoplewho shouldn't know them. The Jewish kid was also a bit over the topwith his committed detective work during the party.

In the end, it's a watchable film if you have nothing else to do but Iwouldn't go out of my way to get my hands on it. It's a shame thoughbecause the movie's premise had good potential to it. With a bitdifferent script and better writing the movie could've been muchbetter.

This movie tries really hard to be funny. I am sure the cast and crewhad a lot of fun making this. Unfortunately you had to be one of themto enjoy anything. After the success of "tuker and dale" theexpectations for the cast had been high. Tyler Labine's presence mademe think this might be good. Its obvious him and all the actors didtheir jobs fine but it just didn't gel. Didn't draw a single laugh fromme. Did get a few whimpers. The story is so shallow that anything I saywill be considered a spoiler. In a nutshell, don't waste your timehere. Rent Tucker and Dale, even Hatchet 2 has some funny stuff. I haveto make up 10 lines of text for a review. So here goes, this movie isnot funny. I am sorry for all the people who worked hard to make it.And I hate posting bad reviews, but this had to be said.
