Story: Wayne Gretzky (no relation) is a vampire who can't grow his teeth. His impotence began when he inadvertently killed Mary Lipinsky, the love of his life, 300 years ago. To take his mind off the pain, he teaches college history - who better? Attempting to regain his full power, he enlists help from his friend and colleague, Dr. Levine (Gary Cole). Nothing works until a new semester brings freshman Chris Keller. She's a dead ringer for Mary and they have a lurid affair, while rumors fly around the campus. Vamp U (2013) Review by Ed_Blackadder from Mrs Miggins' Pie Shoppe
This is actually a decent movie for first time writer/directors MattJespersen and Maclain Nelson. The latter of the two plays Fred, thewannabe boyfriend of Chris, who is well performed by the extremely hotJulie Gonzalo. I remember her from Dodgeball but haven't seen anythingelse she's in which is a pity. I'll be making a point of watching herwork from now on because she's not only talented but is very, very easyon the eyes. Adam Johnson is Vampire teacher Wayne Gretzky, who hasbeen heartbroken for 300 years (and fangless) since he killed hisbeloved girlfriend Mary who looked identical to Chris. On seeing Chris,Wayne falls in love with her and they start a love affair which startsrumours and makes Fred jealous.
The acting is pretty solid and it was great seeing Gary Cole in this.He is an old pro and needed no direction with the comedy which is justas well. The script was pretty loose, you know, plot holes and somegags that felt like they were quickly thrown together without muchthought. The timing was off in a lot of the comedy scenes which made abig difference to the outcome. However, you have to forgive the firsttime directors any mistakes because they've still given us a decentmovie, and I'm sure that their next effort will be a much tighterproduction.
Personally, I think this movie has come to us a bit late in the daywith Vampires being old hat, I mean, don't they know that it's Zombiesthis year (Warm Bodies) and that 'Zombies are the new black', lol.Still, I did enjoyed it.

Vamp U (2013) Review by Paul Magne Haakonsen from Denmark
Well, this wasn't no Bram Stoker's "Dracula", nor was it (luckily) nota Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" either. This movie was sort of alight-hearted romantic comedy with just a hint of horror, oh, and withvampires.
The story is about a college professor named Wayne Gretzky (played byAdam Johnson) who becomes enthralled with the new student to his classChris Keller (played by Julie Gonzalo). They start to have arelationship, but it turns out that they have more in common than justa mutual attraction. And the fact that Wayne is a vampire also doestend to prove somewhat of an issue in matters of the heart.
I will say that the storyline was fairly straight forward, however, itwasn't particularly an impressive or overly interesting storyline. Andwhat kept the movie afloat was the use of comedy throughout the movie.Mind you, it is not the kind of comedy that will have you laughing hardand in tears, but it is the kind that worked well enough and was justsubtle enough to peak its funny head.
It should be noted, however, that the people hired for the variousroles and characters were actually doing good jobs with the roles andcharacters that they were given. It was just the script that provedsomewhat of a ball and chain around their ankles.
In overall, then "Vamp U" is a movie that is intended for a youngteenage girl audience, and it doesn't really offer much for others inthe audience, as this movie is a no brainer from start to end.
Could have been more, but it catered to a teenage girl audience.
